Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in Wales

In collaboration with the Welsh Healthcare Associated Infection Programme, WICS coordinated a two-part study over 2012-14 which identified considerable variation in the practice of chest radiography at the outset of ventilator-associated respiratory tract infection (lead investigator Richard Pugh). This variation has significant implications for the conduct of surveillance for critical care-associated respiratory infection.
